Prakash Ellenhorn Treatment
Prakash Ellenhorn is a “single source” model of treatment. Along with our psychosocial interventions, and our in-community services, we offer a full range of treatment resources delivered by a multidisciplinary team.
Pharmacology, Medicine and Health
Psychiatry and Medications
Every client at Prakash Ellenhorn sees one of our psychiatrists. These psychiatrists carry very small caseloads. This allows them plenty of time to meet their clients regularly, to work integrally on their clients’ treatment teams, to communicate with their clients’ families when appropriate, to coordinate with medical treaters, and to thoroughly review every client’s record.
The psychopharmacological care of our clients is thorough. Not only do our doctors meet with their clients on a regular basis, but they also work with their clients’ teams to better understand the daily effects of the medicine on both symptom reduction and side effects. Having a team in the community, who communicate regularly with the psychiatrist about their observations, means our psychiatrists have “eye and ears” that are simply unimaginable in most community care.
Nursing
Every client of Prakash Ellenhorn is assigned a nurse. The nurses help clients with issues related to their basic physical health, with organizing medications, and with nutrition plans. The nurses often attend physician appointments with clients, advocating for the clients, helping the clients understand the feedback given by doctors and coordinating between physicians and the team psychiatrist.
Personal Training
We take seriously the physical toll caused by many psychiatric medications. We offer each of our clients a personal trainer, who is also trained in mental health work. The personal trainer helps clients develop individualized nutrition and exercise routines.
